Effective July 2026
1. Our community in one line
Afrotierre is a global marketplace celebrating African makers, brands, and culture. Whether you're shopping, selling, or browsing, you're part of a community — treat it with the same care you'd expect in someone else's home.
2. Be respectful
Speak to other members the way you'd want to be spoken to. Disagreement is fine; cruelty, slurs, threats, and personal attacks are not.
- No harassment, bullying, or targeted intimidation of buyers, sellers, or staff.
- No hate speech, slurs, or content that demeans people based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or age.
- No doxxing, sharing private information, or impersonating another person or brand.
3. Keep it honest
Trust is the currency of a marketplace. Misrepresenting yourself, your products, or your story breaks that trust and is grounds for removal.
- Describe items accurately — materials, dimensions, condition, origin, and handling time.
- Don't pass off mass-produced goods as handmade or misappropriate another culture's identity.
- No fake reviews, manipulated ratings, or coordinated voting from alternate accounts.
- Don't try to move conversations or payments off Afrotierre to avoid fees or buyer protection.
4. Keep content safe and lawful
Photos, videos, descriptions, store stories, reviews, and messages must comply with the law and our Acceptable Use Policy.
- No illegal goods, counterfeits, or items that infringe intellectual property.
- No sexually explicit, graphically violent, or shock content in listings or public posts.
- No content that endangers minors. We report suspected child exploitation to the appropriate authorities.
- No promotion of self-harm, terrorism, or organised violence.
5. Communicate in good faith
Use Afrotierre messaging for everything related to an order so we can help if something goes wrong.
- Reply to buyer and seller messages within 2 business days where possible.
- Keep conversations on-topic and free of spam, mass solicitation, or unrelated promotion.
- If a conversation turns hostile, disengage and report it instead of escalating.
6. Reviews and feedback
Reviews help the whole community shop with confidence. Keep them based on your real experience with the item and the seller.
- Only review items you actually purchased and received.
- No retaliation against buyers for honest feedback and no incentivising positive reviews with gifts or discounts.
- Sellers may respond to reviews professionally — never with personal attacks or threats.
7. Celebrate culture, don't exploit it
Afrotierre exists to spotlight African craftsmanship and creativity. Share the story behind your products, credit your sources, and partner with the artisans you work with fairly. Cultural appropriation, plagiarism of artisan designs, and misleading provenance claims are not welcome here.
8. Reporting violations
If you see content or behaviour that breaks these guidelines, report it from the listing, message, review, or profile using the report button — or email trust@afrotierre.com. Reports are reviewed by our trust and safety team and handled confidentially.
9. Enforcement
Depending on the severity, we may remove content, issue a warning, restrict features, hold payouts, or suspend or terminate accounts. Serious or repeat violations can result in a permanent ban without prior notice. Decisions are made under our Terms & Conditions and Acceptable Use Policy.
10. Appeals
If you believe an enforcement decision was made in error, reply to the notification email or contact info@afrotierre.com within 14 days with any context that helps us re-review. We aim to respond within 5 business days.
11. Changes to these guidelines
These guidelines evolve with our community. We may update them from time to time and will announce material changes by email or in-app notice.
